Your rights and responsibilities when using CodaMail's secure email service

Service Optimization: Our primary focus is to ensure optimal service for the majority of users. Since resources are shared, we address peak usage periods that may impact the majority's experience. Therefore, we reserve the right to disable or restrict usage at our discretion and without prior notice should we determine that a single user, or minority group of users, is using the majority of our services to the detriment of others. Such use may require a dedicated server..

Terms of Service

We consistently adhere to the principles of being responsible net neighbors. This commitment entails a zero-tolerance policy towards any abuse of our services. We vigilantly address various forms of abuse that could compromise our platform's integrity, cause delivery issues for our subscribers, or are deliberately malicious, including, but not limited to:

  • Unsolicited bulk email (spam) or commercial email without consent
  • Harassment, stalking, threats, or abusive behavior
  • Child exploitation or distribution of illegal content
  • Phishing, fraud, identity theft, or impersonation with malicious intent
  • Distribution of malware, viruses, or network attacks
  • Hosting or sharing copyrighted materials without proper rights
  • Using the service to bypass restrictions to facilitate illegal activity

Aligned with our commitment to being responsible net neighbors, we reserve the right to terminate the services of any individual or entity found abusing our platform. This proactive approach helps us maintain a secure and trustworthy environment for all users.

Security over Uptime

Security takes precedence over uptime. In the event of discovering a zero-day vulnerability in any aspect of our offering that cannot be immediately patched, we will opt to remove or restrict the service until a patch becomes available. This proactive approach is preferable to maintaining a vulnerable service solely for the sake of uptime.

Not an anonymous service

It's important to note that while we prioritize privacy, we are not an anonymous service. While some features may offer anonymity, particularly to the outside world, it's essential to recognize that as a paying user, your identity may not be anonymous to us. Therefore, users should act accordingly.

Backups

Regarding backups, automatic backups can compromise user privacy as they may retain deleted data. To safeguard user privacy, we do not back up any user data, including emails (although we do maintain a 24 hr delayed warm mirror in case of failure) or web space. Our backups exclusively comprise files essential for service functionality. User-specific data such as mail spools, user space, server logs, and temporary data are not included. However, users are provided with tools to perform their backups as needed.
